Tonight, Evanston green architect Nathan Kipnis will discuss Evanston’s Climate Action Plan and a proposed offshore wind farm at 6 p.m. at the Firehouse Grill, 750 Chicago Avenue in Evanston.
The proposed offshore wind farm on Lake Michigan is one of about 200 suggestions in Evanston’s climate action plan to reduce greenhouse gas.
The climate action plan, created by a group of Evanston residents and city staff members, was adopted by the city last year. The plan claims that if all of its suggestions are followed greenhouse gas emissions would be reduced 13 percent by 2012. According to the climate plan, almost a third of the project improvements would rely on offshore wind farms
A few other suggestions in the plan include green roofs, car-sharing and larger recycling bins.
The event is one in a series of environmental topics sponsored by the Citizens for a Greener Evanston (CGE).
