Today, I visited three condos on Hinman in southeast Evanston and a condo on Sherman, near downtown Evanston.
927 Hinman #2S - This two-bedroom/two- bath vintage condo is approximately 1,300 square feet, and comes with an in-unit washer/dryer. There are hardwood floors throughout, and the condo has exposed brick and two balconies. The linear floor plan begins with a large living room in front, a dining room, then an eat-in kitchen and finally two back bedrooms, bathrooms and a den/office in the back. There is not a fireplace and the listing agent is trying to determine if the unit comes with a garage parking space. There is a nice common backyard to BBQ. This condo is within walking distance to the Metra, CTA, shosps and the lake. Price tag- $325,000.
936 Hinman #1S – This three-bedroom/two bath vintage condo is an end-unit that gets three exposures, allowing good light in the living room and sunroom. The condo, which also has a linear floor plan, has hardwood floors throughout. Some interesting features include a walk-in kitchen pantry, in-unit washer/dryer, a wood-burning fireplace dressed in a beautiful oak mantle and a common courtyard patio to BBQ. No parking comes with the unit – only street parking. This unit is also walking distance to the Metra, CTA, shops and the lake. Price tag – $349,900.
651 Hinman #1S- This three-bedroom/2 bath condo is the model unit of a newly converted vintage 6-flat building. Standard features include hardwood floors, a washer/dryer hookup, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen and a ventless gas fireplace. With approximately 1,668 square feet and a linear floor plan, the condo has a nice master suite in the back of the condo with tiled bathroom floors and a decent-sized deck. Parking is an additional $30,000. The two top floor units have sold. Price tag – $425,000.
2038 Sherman #3A - Moving closer to downtown and Northwestern, this top floor two-bedroom/one-bath condo, located in the Maisonette, built in 1963, has a new kitchen with granite countertops, maple cabinets and stainless steel appliances. An interesting feature is a washer/dryer in the kitchen – you don’t see that too often. The kitchen opens to a nice-sized combo living/dining room with hardwood floors. And probably the best aspect of this condo is that it comes with two assigned parking spaces – one garage, the other outdoor. Price tag – $259,500.
