Turn off the power tomorrow during Earth Hour.
Remember to turn off the lights for one hour starting at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in honor of the second annual Earth Hour.
More than 1,500 cities and towns in 80 countries around the world will also turn off the lights and darken the skies for one hour in what is expected to be the largest climate event in history. In addition, global corporations, schools, celebrities and non-profit groups are also supporting the effort.
In Chicago, lights at Navy Pier will dim, and 24 spotlights that shine on Sears Tower’s twin spires will go dark.
Electricity demand in Chicago and northern Illinois fell 5 percent during last year’s Earth Hour. The World Wildife Fund is sponsoring the event, now in its second year.
