Koenig & Strey closes two Chicago offices

Koenig & Strey GMAC Real Estate has closed its Lincoln Park and River North offices, according to an article in today’s ChicagoRealEstate Daily.

Koenig & Strey has closed several offices this year, including  one in Wilmette.  Most of the Wilmette agents transferred to the Evanston office.

On a brighter note, Sam Zell,  real estate mogul and owner of the Chicago Cubs, predicts the residential real estate market will stabilize this summer and the U.S. economy will be the first to rebound, according to another article in the ChicagoRealEstateDaily.

Zell made his fortune by gobbling up distressed commercial real estate in the early 1990′s when the commercial real estate market was in a downturn. He sold his Equity Office Properties Trust to Blackstone Group in 2007 for $23 billion, profiting a cool $2 billion.
