It is located within walking distance to the Central Street shops and the CTA Central Street stop. Price tag-$187,000.</p>

There are three bedrooms and a full bath on the second level and the master suite with a cozy office on the third floor. A nice feature is the butler&#8217;s stairway that leads from the second floor to the kitchen. Price tag-$750,000.</p>

<p>Known as the Edward Kirk Warren home, this vintage gem, located about a block north from the Lighthouse Beach,  is approximately 6,200 square-feet (though it appears larger) with 16 rooms, including five bedrooms and 4.2 baths.  There is a sliver of a Lake Michigan view (probably better views during winter) and is located on a quiet residential street just off of Sheridan Road in the Northeast Evanston Historic District.</p>
<p>Oak floors, stairs, wainscoting and trim flood this three-level  Gothic Tudoresque home.  There are three stone fireplaces, a ballroom, a grand staircase, a solarium, a separate servant&#8217;s wing with a butler&#8217;s staircase and an elevator. Vintage features are everywhere from stained-glass windows, crown mouldings and an exquisite vaulted ceiling with a carved honeycombed pattern in the living room.</p>
<p>The lot is irregular with about 26,125 square-feet of land. The bathrooms and kitchen are dated and need some updating, although some of the wall tile looks great. Price tag-$2,500,000.</p>

The 2007 taxes were $2,214 without a homeowner&#8217;s exemption. This is perfect for someone who wants to put in a little elbow grease and earn some sweat equity. Price tag -$190,000.</p>

<p>Today, I visited four Northwest Evanston homes.</p>
<p><strong><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-405" title="2116-ewing" src="http://evanstonhomesandcondos.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/2116-ewing.jpg?w=128&h=96" alt="2116-ewing" width="128" height="96" />2116 Ewing </strong>- This three-bedroom, one-bath Luxembourg farmhouse needs TLC but the price was just dropped to $289,900 from $319,900. The white fence adds charm to the home&#8217;s exterior. To enter the home, you walk down a few steps and enter the kitchen and large eating area. The living room and bedrooms are located above the kitchen. The layout is unusual for the typical home in the area but the home does have a certain charm, especially for a price below 300k.</p>
<p><strong><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-406" title="2322-cowper" src="http://evanstonhomesandcondos.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/2322-cowper.jpg?w=128&h=96" alt="2322-cowper" width="128" height="96" />2322 Cowper </strong>- This three-bedroom, one bath home has a new roof, a new stainless steel stove and refrigerator (there&#8217;s no dishwasher) and hardwood floors. There&#8217;s a nice screened porch and breakfast area off the kitchen. The partial basement is unfinished and there are stairs leading to an unfinished attic. The price was dropped to $400,000 from $450,000.</p>

There&#8217;s a first floor office and half bath. Upstairs are three bedrooms, including a nice-sized master suite. Although there is a decent-sized living room graced by a wood-burning fireplace and a family room next to the kitchen, there is not a separate dining room. However, the office could be easily converted into a dining room if necessary. The basement is nicely finished as well. Price tag-$649,000.</p>

Although there is not a master bath, there are two full bathrooms side-by-side off the hallway. The basement is unfinished. The price tag-$679,000.</p>

As is usual with many bungalow floor plans, there are two bedrooms on the first level, and the stairs are located in the back of the home in the kitchen. The home does not have a fireplace.  Upstairs, there&#8217;s a sitting room, a bedroom and a full bath. The flooring is wood laminate. The basement is partially finished with a bathroom. The kitchen isn&#8217;t to die for but that&#8217;s reflected in the price &#8211; $469,000.</p>

The kitchen is newer with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, and there is hardwood floors throughout most of the home.  The basement is partially finished with a half-bath. There is a decorative fireplace in the living room. Price tag-$550,000.</p>

Each unit has 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a sunroom, a separate dining room, built-in bookshelves and a wood-burning fireplace. The top floor is rented for $1,675, and the lease expires in May. There&#8217;s also a built-in coffee machine in the 2nd floor kitchen &#8211; something not seen often. The front stairs and banisters are oak, and the back stairs for both units conveniently lead to the basement and backyard. This could be converted to  a single-family home but it seems like a good rental investment as well. Price tag-$599,000.<br />

Although there is not a master bath, the upstairs lone bathroom is nicely updated. The basement is partially finished, and the home has two fireplaces, located in the living room and family room. Another nice feature is an attached two-car garage with a driveway. Price tag- $619,000.</p>

There are three bedrooms on the second level and a fourth bedroom on the thrid level, which is used as a kid&#8217;s playroom. The master bedroom has cathedral ceilings and wood beams, a walk-in closet  and a nice bathroom. The second floor also has a nice feature I always like &#8211; a laundry room. The first floor plan has a nice circular flow with hardwood floors. The lot size is on the smaller end &#8211; 80&#215;70. Price tag-$689,000.</p>

<p><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-328" title="3313-harrison1" src="http://evanstonhomesandcondos.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/3313-harrison1.jpg?w=123&h=96" alt="3313-harrison1" width="123" height="96" /><strong>3313 Harrison</strong> &#8211; This 2 bedroom, 1 bath Cape Cod home is the one of the lowest priced homes you will find in Northwest Evanston, and it&#8217;s cute and cozy for the price. Some of the nice features include hardwood floors in the living room and halls, two-decent sized bedrooms, a separate dining room and a sunroom. Although the kitchen has grantie countertops, the cabinets are a little dated. Probably the most interesting aspect of this home is it&#8217;s large lot size &#8211; 50 x 180. There&#8217;s plenty  of room to expand the home. Buy now and expand later or rent and then build when the market changes. Price tag &#8211; $329,000.</p>

The price is nice but it&#8217;s that way because the home is on the corner of Ewing and Golf &#8211; though it&#8217;s setback from Golf and faces Ewing. Price tag &#8211; $499,900.</p>

Upstairs are three-good sized bedrooms that are carpeted. There&#8217;s a galley kitchen that opens up to a living room that leads to a deck outside. Price tag &#8211; $529,500. There&#8217;s also a 4 bedroom home for sale next door for $499,900.</p>

<p><strong>2621 Lincolnwood</strong> &#8211; If you like brick Bungalows this would be worth a look. Although it only has two bedrooms (on the first level) it does have the exposed oak woodwork  &#8211; the doors, crown molding and window and door  trim. The home has French doors and lead glass windows on each side of a gas fireplace in the living room.  Another nice feature is that the home has a stairway leading to an unfinished attic. There seems to be enough room to transform it into another bedroom and bath. The kitchen was updated with granite counters and stainless steel appliances, and the basement is nicely finished. Price tag=$519,000.  </p>
<p><strong>2326 Brown</strong>- This is three-level Victorian style home built in 1908 is located on a deep lot &#8211; 50 x 200. The four bedroom, 2.5 bath home is certified as an architecturally significant home in Evanston. Some nice features include a beautiful oak staircase and original pine floors in the living room. It has a nice circular first floor plan with a first floor bath and two fireplaces. The second level has three bedrooms, including the master bedroom, which does not have a master bathroom. The third floor has an office and bedroom. The homes is about three blocks to the Metra. Price tag=819,000</p>
<p><strong>2519 Park Place</strong>- This five bedroom, 3.5 bath home was built in 1990 with the exception of the front facade. However, there were numerous improvements made to the home in the past four years. I really like the circular and open floor plan in this home that has a grand foyer entry. The kitchen is customized with a Wolf range oven, granite countertops and a large prep island. The master bedroom is roomy with a nice bathroom containing a Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. This home is located on one of my favorite streets &#8211; Park Place &#8211; where homes are setback from the street where trolleys once roamed in the 19th century. Price tag=$1,300,000.<br />
